Harmony Beach

Harmony Beach is located in Haviland Bay and is the first beach you’ll reach when travelling north from Sault Ste. Marie along the Trans-Canada Highway and the Lake Superior shoreline. Just a 30-minute drive from the city, this public beach is a popular spot for swimming and relaxing by the water. Batchawana Bay Provincial Park

Batchawana Bay Provincial Park is a day-use park located about 50 minutes north of Sault Ste. Marie. While camping is not available, the park is well worth a visit thanks to its long sandy beach, shallow waters, and family-friendly amenities. Picnic tables and washrooms are available on-site, making it an easy stop for families spending the day outdoors. Pancake Bay Provincial Park

Pancake Bay Provincial Park is located about an hour north of Sault Ste. Marie and just 10 minutes from Batchawana Bay Provincial Park. Known for its long sandy beach, clear blue water, and scenic Lake Superior shoreline, it’s one of the region’s most popular summer destinations. The park is also home to the 3.5 km Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout Trail, which offers panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscape. With 476 campsites located close to the beach, Pancake Bay is an excellent choice for a weekend getaway. 

The coastal Drive to or From Sault Ste Marie

The beaches are just one stop of many on the beautiful Lake Superior coastal drive.

The Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout Trail in Pancake Bay Provincial Park offers a beautiful view across a luscious maple forest all the way to the big lake. You may also see the final resting place of the Edmund Fitzgerald ship.

Chippewa Falls, the famed halfway point on the trans-Canada highway is a great spot for a break. The falls are right beside parking lot, just off the highway.
