Sault Ste. Marie is a great destination for March Break
Looking for some fun things to do with the family? We’ve got you covered. Plan a weekend adventure or come for the whole week! Sault Ste. Marie has something for everyone. Here are some fun ideas for you and your family.
Spring Skiing
We’ve had a great winter for snow, our resorts are open over March break and the weather forecast is looking great! Hiawatha Highlands, Stokely Creek Lodge are great places for cross-country skiing. Hiawatha is offering 20% off passes and rental all week! Plus, it hosts it’s final Lantern Ski on March 20th – always a magical night. Stokely hosts it’s annual Fat Bike day on Saturday, March 21st – register here!
Searchmont Resort, with one of the highest verticals in Ontario, is your perfect downhill destination. Each resort has rentals as well as a variety of trails for all skill levels. Check opening times and local conditions on their websites before visiting. Searchmont are also running a ‘Learn to Ski or Snowboard‘ camp. Get details here.
Cultural Corridor Pass – March Break Adventure
Make this March Break one your family will never forget!
The Cultural Corridor Quest is back, inviting families to explore incredible attractions in Sault Ste. Marie’s Cultural Corridor from March 16 to 21, 2026. Packed with interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and exciting discoveries, it’s the perfect way to learn, play, and explore together.
There a fun and unique events each day of the week. On Monday the Bushplane museum has a ‘Girls Can Fly‘. On Tuesday there is a ‘Leprechauns and Rainbows‘ event at the Ermatinger Clergue Site… and more. Click on this link to learn more or keep reading.
Each location along the Cultural Corridor offers unique March Break programming designed for kids of all ages:
- Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre – Soar into adventure with aviation-inspired fun
- Art Gallery of Algoma – Get creative with hands-on art activities
- Sault Ste. Marie Museum – Dive into local history and fascinating stories
- Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site – Step back in time and uncover the past
- Entomica Insectarium – Discover the amazing world of insects
- Sault Ste. Marie Public Library – Learn into the world of stories and creativity
Visit one location or challenge your family to complete the full quest! Collect stamps at each stop for a chance to win ALL-YEAR ROUND PASS to all six locations.
Skating at the Plaza with Treats!
Our new downtown plaza skating rink, with underground cooling, is perfect for March Break skating. The Plaza will also be offering s’mores, moving screenings and hot chocolate from 2pm-4pm Monday to Thursday of March Break! So come down and enjoy the fun!
Indoor Fun!
Sometimes you just need a break from the snow? Well, have you ever tried axe throwing? Check out one of our newest and most fun indoor activities!
Missing golf and still need a fix? The Up and Down Lounge has state of the art golf (and other sport) simulators, which can be booked by the hour. They also have a ‘multi-sport’ option that includes Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Football, Field Goal Kicking, Hockey, Handball, Archery, Sport Shooting. Up and Down Lounge is also fully licensed so you can grab a drink and some food and make this a fun evening activity!
The Soo Greyhounds are charging towards the playoffs and have 3 home games over the March Break period. Get your tickets now for games against Branford, Saginaw and Windsor on Sunday, March 15th, Friday, March 20th and Sunday, March 22nd.
